About the Organization

The home was founded in 1998 to meet the needs of homeless children. Its primary residential center cares for up to 94 children and teenagers per night. The home also operates a center for 25 teen moms and their babies that almost always operates at capacity.


1. Assist in an on-site clinic that works with youth recovering from addiction and to serve teen mothers

2. Assist current medical staff in routine checkups

3. Treat medical complications related to addiction, teen pregnancy, and homelessness

Internship Requirements

1. Must be an advanced student of nursing, medicine, physical therapy, or other health science field

2. Must have experience necessary to help in on-site clinic; working professionals welcome

3. Must possess professionalism and be ready to represent ISL and the US well

4. Must posses or be willing to develop intercultural competence
