About the Dominican Republic & Haiti
The Dominican Republic and Haiti, two sovereign nations with completely distinct cultural and historical identities, share a beautiful island located right in the heart of the Caribbean known as La Hispaniola.
Teams to the Dominican Republic & Haiti will work in areas near Santo Domingo while also spending time serving in a clinical setting a few miles across the border, in the southeastern region of Haiti. Teams will not be lodged in Haiti, but will spend each night in the Dominican Republic, staying in towns next to the Haitian border.
ISL serves both rural and urban informal communities near Santo Domingo and areas in the southwestern part of the island. The communities in Haitian territory near the border ISL volunteers serve in include Anse a Pitre, Banano, Boni, Los Cacao, and El Corte.
ISL volunteers only travel to Haiti in conjunction with our Dominican Republic Teams. For more information on the Dominican Republic, visit here.
We love our staff and we are positive that you will too! Each staff member is professional, courteous, and has the same passion as you do: to serve others.
