About the Dominican Republic & Haiti

The Dominican Republic and Haiti, two sovereign nations with completely distinct cultural and historical identities, share a beautiful island located right in the heart of the Caribbean known as La Hispaniola.

Volunteers to the Dominican Republic & Haiti work in areas near the capital city of the Dominican Republic, Santo Domingo, while also spending time serving in a clinical setting a few miles across the border in the southeastern region of Haiti. Volunteers will not be lodged in Haiti, but will spend each night in the Dominican Republic, staying in towns next to the Haitian border.

ISL volunteers only travel to Haiti in conjunction with our Dominican Republic programs.  For more information on the Dominican Republic, visit here.
