ISL Program Withdrawal and Refund Policy
As with virtually all other travel related academic programs, once deposits have been received, we begin spending that deposit money on program arrangements and advance costs, including staff time overhead. For this reason, it is standard policy among university related programs for students to forfeit any and all advance payments in the case of student-initiated withdrawal prior to departure. ISL refund deadlines are clearly presented on the official ISL app, which accompanies all advanced payments.
If a student withdraws, or is required to withdraw from a program after it has begun, refund of any program payments are ONLY available via trip cancellation insurance. This insurance is commercially available and listed on the travel insurance page. Once again, this is standard procedure at universities and university related programs, as a majority of the cost of any program is NOT the housing and food but the logistical planning and over-all program overhead. As a matter of fact, most universities add an additional withdrawal penalty. ISL does not charge a penalty and in some cases, may even offer travel credit towards future ISL trips.
