IMPORTANT INFORMATION! Click anywhere within this yellow box to hide it if you’re already familiar with it.

Trip cost does not include airfare.

  1. A total of $285 is due within 5 days from the date of your application. This includes an $85 non-refundable application fee (not included in the trip cost) and a $200 non-refundable trip deposit toward the cost of your trip. Note: Airfare is not included in the cost of the trip. You will not be confirmed on the team until the $285 payment is received by ISL. In the unlikely event your trip is canceled by International Service Learning, you will be given the option of moving to another team or receiving a refund of your $200 deposit.
  2. Space is limited on all teams, and team placements are on a first come, first served basis – the first deposits received get the places.
  3. There is a $50 late fee, if payment is not received 10 days after the due date.
  4. There is a $100/day fee for early or late arrival and departure dates, as this increases housing, food, transport, and staff costs (to meet you individually at the airport). You do, however, have the option of being responsible for your own arrangements before or after the program dates. In that case, this fee would be waived.
  5. The first installment payment of your trip cost (half the balance) is due 60 days prior to your trip.
  6. Final payment is due 30 days prior to your trip departure. You will receive an invoice that will include sponsorship donations, if you applied for sponsorship with Good Samaritan Missions.
  7. Wait to book your flight until you have received notice from ISL that your trip is confirmed to “GO”. If you wish to purchase your ticket before this confirmation, please book refundable flights or buy cancellation insurance (available with most credit cards). Teams are confirmed to “GO” when the minimum number of team members is reached OR 50 days prior to departure. Over 90% of all teams make it to “GO” status.
  8. Airline tickets and trip cancellation insurance– As soon as your team is confirmed to “GO”, you will need to purchase airline tickets and trip cancellation insurance. As noted, airfare is not included in the cost of the trip.
  9. Carefully note your arrival and departure airport information. For example, some Central America teams arrive in San Jose, Costa Rica, but return home out of Managua, Nicaragua.
  10. It is strongly suggested that you purchase your own medical and trip cancellation insurance. Click on Travel Insurance for more information and available options. Refer to ISL’s Withdrawal and Refund policy for more information about cancellations and refunds.

Financial Aid: Don’t forget that you have the option of using Good Samaritan Mission’s (GSM) Sponsorship Program to defray your costs!

Teams marked as “Reserved Special Team” are closed teams available only to specific groups or universities.
