Team Schedules

IMPORTANT INFORMATION:

  1. Wait to book your flight until you have received confirmation from ISL that your trip is a “GO”.  If you wish to purchase your ticket before this confirmation, please book refundable flights or buy cancellation insurance (available with most credit cards).  Teams are confirmed as a “GO” when the minimum number of team members is reached OR 50 days prior to departure.  Over 90% of all teams make it to “GO” status.
  2. Space is limited on all teams, and team placements are on a first come, first served basis – the first deposits received get the places.
  3. There is a $50 additional fee for a late application & deposit payment.
  4. There is a $100/day fee for early or late arrival and departure dates, as this increases housing, food, transport, and staff costs (to meet you individually at the airport).  You do, however, have the option of being responsible for your own arrangements before or after the program dates.  In that case, this fee would be waived.
  5. A total of $285 is due with your application. This includes an $85 non-refundable application fee (not included in the trip cost) and a $200 non-refundable trip deposit toward the cost of your trip. In the unlikely event your trip is canceled by International Service Learning, you will be given the option of moving to another team or a refund of your $200 deposit. You will be asked to make a choice of payment methods for the $285 after the successful completion of your application.
  6. A $750 installment payment will be due when the team is confirmed as “GO”. At this time you will be requested to send in your first installment of $750 toward your trip cost.
  7. Final payment is due 25 days prior to your trip departure. You will receive an invoice that will include sponsorship donations if you applied for sponsorship with Good Samaritan Missions.
  8. Carefully note your arrival and departure airport information. Some Central America teams arrive in San Jose, Costa Rica, but RETURN HOME out of Managua, Nicaragua.  Mexico teams arrive and depart from Brownsville, Texas.
  9. It is strongly suggested that you purchase your own medical and trip cancellation insurance. This is the only option you will have for a refund should your trip be canceled by you or by ISL.   Click on Travel Insurance for more information and available options.

Financial Aid: Don’t forget that you have the option of using Good Samaritan Mission’s (GSM) Sponsorship Program to defray your costs!
