ISL Program Withdrawal
and Refund Policy

As with virtually all other travel related academic programs, once deposits have been received, we begin spending that deposit money on program arrangements and advance costs, including the overhead of staff time. For this reason, it is standard policy among university related programs for students to forfeit any and all advance payments in the case of student-initiated withdrawal prior to departure. ISL deadlines for these payments becoming non-refundable are clearly presented on the official ISL app, which accompanies all advanced payments.

If a student withdraws or is required to withdraw from a program after it has begun, refund of any program payments are ONLY available via trip cancellation insurance, commercially available and listed on our website on the "Useful Resources" link. Once again, this is a standard procedure at universities and university related programs as a majority of the cost of any program is not the housing and food but the logistical planning and over-all program overhead, including staff costs and time spent. As a matter of fact, most universities add on an additional penalty in addition to the forfeiture of pre-payments. The only ISL exception to this program is the offer of half the unused funds of extension program in the form of a travel credit applicable to a future ISL program.
