ISL Global Gift and Grant Program

Since its creation in 1995, ISL has been committed to helping the underserved–not only through service projects, but through grants, gifts, and loans.  We invite those so moved to join us in our efforts by making a donation to one of the ISL GIFT AND GRANT PROJECTS described below.

ISL is organized as a non-profit in our primary countries of service, and we partner with Good Samaritan Missions (GSM), a 501c3 non-profit, in the United States.  Donors desiring a tax deductible gift receipt should designate their gift to the project of their choice and send it via check to GSM at:

Good Samaritan Missions
P.O. Box 355
Moravian Falls, NC  28654.

You may also go to the following link to donate online:  http://www.aboutgsm.org/donate/.

You can also participate in helping the underserved by gathering medicines and medical equipment, joining an ISL team, and bringing the supplies with you.  This gathering of resources is an effective and gratifying activity for both students and professional organizations.  Be sure and check with your Team Manager to make sure that the materials you gather are those that are actually needed.

ISL GIFT AND GRANT PROJECTS

The Masaya Hospital Project ISL recently purchased two Doppler systems and an EKG unit for the hospital in Masaya, Nicaragua. Masaya Hospital serves a city of almost 300,000 with only seventy beds! Join us in purchasing additional equipment, medicines, facility upgrades, and continuing education for hospital staff. Our next project is the renovation and expansion of the “Casa de Madres”, a place for nursing mothers to stay while their infants are hospitalized.

The San Carlos Safe House Project In partnership with the Nicaraguan Health District, help us construct a safe house in San Carlos, Nicaragua, for women and children who must travel long distances from home to see a doctor.   This house will provide secure over-night facilities for those requiring out-patient medical treatments.

Medicine and Supplies for All Projects This is ISL’s largest gift-giving effort.  Join us in providing free medicine and medical supplies for our outreach clinics in ten countries.  ISL has been providing free medicines and supplies to the underserved since 1995—including eyewear, dental equipment, and veterinary supplies.  In 2010 alone, ISL provided over $120,000 for this effort.

The Orphan Project Help provide medical treatment, supplies, construction, and general service teams to orphanages such as the Ometepe Island Orphanage in Nicaragua; Los Manos Orphanage for Special Needs Children in San Jose, Costa Rica; The Lords Home in Belize; Faraja Home and School for the Handicapped in Tanzania, Africa; and the Irente School for the Blind in Tanzania, Africa.

Dental and Optometric Grants for Children In our partnership with several Central American Schools of Dentistry and Optometry, ISL provides grants to fund the provision of dental work and eyewear for children with specific needs.  After determining need, ISL provides vouchers for families to receive the help their children need through the resources of the professional schools.   You can help make this possible.

Project Abraham Contribute to the construction and equipping of a dental clinic within a multi- faceted Christian outreach project in a poor area near San Jose, Costa Rica.  This project includes a school, feeding program, group foster homes, and free medical clinics.  The main structures are made from recycled wood shipping crates!

The Sarapiqui River Project Participate in providing material and financial support for Palmas de Mamre, a medical outreach in the northern part of Costa Rica along a river at the Nicaraguan border.  This project uses boats to reach the underserved–who otherwise have no access to medical care!

Continuing Education for International Medical Professionals Share in the funding of seminars for the continuing education of medical professionals in the countries we serve, as well as helping to bring resource persons to their institutions and providing basic professional tools and equipment.

The Belize Education Project Help us provide supplies, staffing, summer education camps and computers for schools in the Cayo District of Belize.
